Multi-Target Stool DNA Testing (Cologuard)
The FIT-DNA test, commonly known by the brand name Cologuard, is a more advanced at-home option. This test looks for both hidden blood and specific DNA markers that are shed by cancerous or precancerous cells in the colon.
While more sensitive than the standard FIT, it has a higher rate of "false positives." In 2026, this test is recommended every 3 years for average-risk individuals. Like other stool tests, a positive result requires a diagnostic colonoscopy to complete the screening process.
